Adventures of Record Store Day 2015
Record Store Day 2015! I hit 6 stores, made purchases at 5 of them, and even discovered a new store to add to my list this year (Barney's Music in Woodland...nice guys). Thanks to Mo and Jen for scouting out places in the bay area and helping out! My record collection thanks you!
Dimple Records on Arden had significantly nicer crowds this year than last year. Absolutely no elbows being thrown; most people remembered their manners. Bonus points for letting the 1 guy bring his dog into the store while he shopped for records!
You can tell by the bins that it's incredibly difficult for the stores to predict which items will sell well. Either that or the stores just get screwed by the RSD distributor. Endless piles of un-purchased Mumford and Sons 7-inches everywhere.
Every year I plan to start in Sacramento and make it all the way to Rasputin Music in Fairfield. I never seem to get that far. Hunger, exhaustion, and an empty wallet always win out beforehand. Next year! Still, I made out pretty good. This year's haul looks like so:
